My First Swim Lesson

Here we are for our very first baby swim lessons. Man was that fun! He loved it, he splashed, he swallowed water, he gurgled, splashed some more. I was really surprised how much he enjoyed himself. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised considering how much he loves his bath time. He doesn't even get fussy with water in his face. We obviously have a long way to go before we can actually swim, but right now its all about learning to like the pool. Maybe he will be the next Michael Phelps. Our 2nd class he was actually practically jumping into the pool when I would put him on the side. I had to make sure to hold on to him b/c he would launch himself into the water. He would go under all the way a couple of times, but he didn't seem to care.

Look at meeeeeeee......
Daddy this is FUN!!!!

Drinking the pool:

And just a little other fun, Nick is pulling up on everything. Sometimes even stands unassisted. Not sure where this came from but I think he sees all the other kids at daycare doing it and wants to do the same thing. He is getting really good at it too. hello mobile baby.

First Plane Ride to St. Louis

So I guess it went alright. It could have been worse I'm sure. The flight up wasn't too bad. We got some apple juice from the flight crew before we got on and put that in a bottle for take off and landing. about 20 min. after take off he was asleep until we were landing. On the way back to Dallas though, eek. It was terrible. I thought we were in for it b/c he screamed the whole time while we were waiting in the airport. But i think that worked in our favor. He was so exhausted from screaming that he passed out almost as soon as we got on the plane....to my releif and I am sure everyone seated around me. I did have 1 lady who kept giving me looks from in front of us and I was getting nervous that I was going to have to ask her to mind herself. But I didn't, luckily for her! I will say I don't know how anyone could travel via air without a 2nd person there to help. My mom went with me and I have no clue what I would have done without her. Not go probably...
Oh and we had our first emergency room visit the first night we got there. Boy was that fun. So We get there Wednesday afternoon and everything seems fine, flight went fine we ate normal things were good. I put Nick down to sleep around 7:30 and head to bed myself around 9:30. So I hear his stirring at about 10:30 and I lean over to make sure he is still covered b/c it is a bit chilly and all of a sudden he hurls. And let me just say I still cannot believe how much stuff came out of this little man. All over the crib, all over his clothes, blankets and I was grabbing him to pick him up to make sure he didn't choke so i got it all over me. I had to have my mom come help me clean everything up. So fast forward past 2 hours later and lots of cry heaving, I call the afterhours nurse line b/c he had not stopped dry heaving and they directed me to take him into the emergency room with him being so young they were extra worried about dehydration. So we go and it doesn't take very long surprisingly and everything is ok. They just say to keep an eye on him for signs of dehydration. So we go home finally around 3am I think. Keep in mind I have to go to work at 7am in the morning. ugh, it was terrible. My poor little guy was definitely not himself the next few days. I guess it was just a stomach bug. Ick. But we all survived.

So here we are in St. Louis: picture with 2nd cousins

Memorial Day

Memorial day in Austin: We had a good time hanging out with everyone. Ate a little too much shrimp and crawfish but thats ok. Nicholas had a big weekend though. Cut his first tooth and started crawling all in 1 day. He has his bottom left tooth that is in now. I can hear it clinking on the cups for his juice. Won't be long before the other 3 are in too according to the doctor. He isn't cruising on the crawling yet, but he is getting better at it every day. It is so much fun to see his reaction to realizing he can do things himself.
I have a ton of other pictures from our first plane ride/trip to St. Louis this past weekend. I will post those later this week.

Here we are chilling on the patio at Nanna's

Meeting Black Jack. He has never seen a kitty before. That is NOT like his puppy. but BJ was actually really nice in letting Nicholas touch him.

How about this for a bath out in the sink in the garage. LOADS of fun let me tell you. Splashing has taken on a whole new meaning.

First of many fights over toys with cousin Oryin

Family pictureFun times with Nanna, how cute are they?

sharing drinks with Uncle Bub. We got to experience ice cubes this weekend too. Excellent for sore gums.
